About Rocky
Peggy’s late husband Matt brought Rocky into their family while
Matt’s cancer was in remission. This was a very happy time in
their lives. The reality of the cancer was never completely out-of-
mind though, and although it was never said, Matt must have
thought that Peggy and Rocky could always rely on each other,
even if the cancer took Matt away from them. He was right.
Rocky’s name is significant because it is short for Rockford, the
name of the town where Matt and Peggy first met. His nickname,
the Rock, is also significant, as his love and companionship was
(and continues to be) a source of great strength to Peggy. Rocky
has inspired Peggy to create pet portraits as well!
